The Saunders Family of Dry Fork

The Saunders family arrived on Dry Fork around 1900. Land to farm, timber to saw, and the proximity of the coal fields is what brought Powell Saunders from the Indian Valley section of Floyd County.He soon became one of the more prosperous members of the communiy, At different tiimes he had a grain mill, saw mill, and logging enterprise and was the first on Dry Fork to own an automobile.
