| Notes for Monroe Hale |
| Monroe Hale through family oral history is said to be from the Burrough's plantation birthplace of Booker T. Washington and met Anna Lewis on a trip to Moses Booth home. It is thought he took his name from the location of where he was born "Hales Ford?" but his mother carried the same name and there were white plantation owners with the name Hale in the area. Michael-Lynn Hale has graciously provided me with much background of proven research and oral history handed down through the family about Monroe and Anna Lewis Hale. He and Beverly Keeling are a wealth of knowledge on Betsy Woods Lewis and family. If you would like to share information then email me your questions and I will forward them to Michael-Lynn Hale or Beverly Keeling. Denise Smith |
