| James Hector was an attorney for Giles County, though some deeds list him as from Tazewell County. He became the representative for the Bank of Delaware and Isaac Wharton heirs in 1828 and was charged with the duty of disposing through selling and collecting rents, two large tracts of land. One tract called Angel's rest containing 73,031 acres and the other called Spring Brook containing 27,000 acres. He sold to Thomas Walker of Monroe Co. Va (which later became Monroe Co. WV) 4000 acres which in 1861 much of the acreage lay in Bland county and became the Dry Fork Community. He created a survey of the 4000 acres in particular and other surveys also that became known in current deeds as the "Hector lines".287,250 |
