Notes for Eleanor Stuart
Eleanor Stuart Walker was from the powerful Stuart Family of Virginia. She was the daughter of Alexander Stuart and his first wife (one of three) Mary Patterson Stuart. Archibald her brother was a Judge in Augusta County. Her brother Alexander Stuart was a judge in Missouri, Robert Stuart of Rockbridge and James Stuart of Mississippi. 111Alexander H. H. Stuart was her nephew who was a Senator of Virginia and played a part in the Reconstruction efforts of Virginia after the Civil War. See Alexander H. H. Stuart.James Ewell Brown J.E.B. Stuart was her half grandnephew. In Montgomery County records are listing for grants of lands from her father Alexander to her and her siblings.

Monroe County Deed book 7 August 1827, Deed from James Hector & Charlotte his wife to Thomas Walker of Monroe County and 38 others a track of land lying on the north side of the Bluestone River in Giles County VA containing 1,973 acres in consideration of one dollar. James Hector is stated to be from Tazewell County in this deed.112
15 Jan 1841, Original Deed to Thomas Walker from Bank of Delaware, Isaac Wharton heirs and exct. and James Hector their attorney for 4000 acres. Said tract includes 790 acres of Alexander Stuart grant survey March 1787 and granted 15 August 1793 to Alexander Stuart. Lying on Dry Fork of Laurel Fork of Wolf Creek of New River. Part of 73,031 acre Angel's Rest survey for Levi Hollingsbrook 1794. Thomas Walker purchased 4000 acres for $501.113
Tazewell County VA, 9 January 1829, Survey of 890 acres of land which includes 790 acres patented in the name of Eleanor Stuart, Thomas Walker's wife, 15 August 1792 and 100 acres by part warrent #75441 Assigned to Thomas Walker by Hezikiah Harman. Tazewell County Survey Book #2 page 40.
Eleanor Walker conveyed 790 acres to Thomas Walker her husband patented to her 15 August 1793.114
Thomas Walker and wife Eleanor deeded to Thomas S. Walker in consideration for love and affection and $1 354 acres on Clear Fork Creek in Tazewell County.115
